Ownership History

Some time in the 1960's this car was converted from a coupe to a convertible by cutting off the top (per Peter Ratcliffe). Ben Gilbert (Miami), sold to Peter Ratcliffe 2001; sold to Simon Frazier of Wales and France in 2014.. In a 1991 listing, Ron Thompson lists Jarl DeBoer as owner (unverified, and possibly in error)

MG produced this as a Left-Hand drive TD with Export to North America specifications, on 26 November, 1952. The Vessel ledgers show that Arnolt coupe 224 was shipped with coupes 222, 223 and 232 on the SS Stockholt, received in Chicago through New York on 5 June,1953. Purchaser was Heyward Cutting, delivered on 17 June, 1953, invoice 931. Cutting (1921-2012) was an architect and designer who worked on Distant Early Warning structures, and the United States pavilion at the1967 Montreal Olympics, following Buckminster Fuller's Geodesic principles. He later re-organized the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
