MG produced this as a Left-Hand drive TD with Export to North America specifications (EXLNA), on 3 March, 1953. The Vessel ledgers show that Arnolt coupe 245 was shipped on the SS Polycrest with coupes 242, 243, 244 and 246 and convertible 241, received in Chicago via the Great Lakes on August 5, 1953. The purchaser was British Motor Car Distributors, delivered on September 9, 1953 invoice 1162. It is reported that this car was used in Arnolt promotional materials. This rough and partially-stripped coupe appeared in a minor CT auction in May, 2019, with convertible 316 and the rear half of an unidentified coupe, described as "from a local New Hartford collection." After the sale, ownership was called into question - there were indications that the seller's estate did not actually own the cars, but had stored them for others in his Western Connecticut barn. I believe the cars were then lost to the original owners. For sale in Hemmings Sept. 2022, "rough but restorable project car, MGB engine, new hood skin, car is missing grille, bumpers, firewall tag." For sale on Craigslist 1/2025 for $11,500, still with the MGB engine, and missing those and many other parts. Simultaneously on Hemmings for $10,500.
