SCRAPPED/cut in half, ex George Phelps. Philip Bayne-Powell fitted the front half into car no. 313, the rear half was sold at auction in Connecticut (see below). The frame was last with J. Goguen.
MG produced this as a Left-Hand drive "chassis-only" TD with Export to North America specifications (EXLNA), on 16 March, 1953. Vessel ledgers show that Arnolt coupe 258 was shipped on the SS Kollbrynn with Arnolt coupes 260, 261, 263 and 266, and convertibles 256, 259, 262, 265, 268 and 271, arriving in Chicago via the Great Lakes on October 13, 1953. Purchaser was J. S. Inskip, Inc. (NY), on 30 April, 1955 invoice 21. The rough rear 1/2 of what Cris Dabica has identified as this coupe 258; rough coupe 245 and rough convertible 316, were sold in a minor CT auction in May, 2019, described as "from a local New Hartford collection". After the sale, ownership of all three Arnolts was called into question - there were strong indications that the seller's estate did not actually own the cars, but had stored them for others in his Western Connecticut barn. I believe the cars were then lost to the original owners.
